Stone is a block found extremely commonly in the Overworld.

How to obtain Stone

Stone requires a pickaxe to be mined, in which case it will drop cobblestone. When mined without a pickaxe, it will drop nothing. If stone is mined with a Silk Touch enchanted pickaxe, it will drop itself.

Natural generation

Stone makes up the majority of the solid blocks generated. When chunks generate, stone can be found under layers of grass and dirt in most biomes. It can also be seen exposed at the side of mountains in extreme hills biomes.

When the world is generating new chunks, some stone becomes ore, and almost every cavern and  mineshaftwill generate at stone level.

Water and lava

Stone can also be made by lava flowing on top of water, where the water will be replaced.

Usage

Silverfish

Silverfish have the ability to enter and hide in stone, creating a monster egg.
